It’s finally time for the second instalment of my WWE 2K26 Universe! And if the first week of shows was any indication, the “New Era” under TKO isn’t just a tagline—it’s a total war for the soul of professional wrestling. We are officially in the fallout zone of WrestleMania, and the shockwaves are still being felt across both brands, as The Final Boss runs the rule now over the entire WWE.

  • On RAW: We saw CM Punk narrowly retained his World Heavyweight Title against the monstrous Jacob Fatu, thanks to a massive assist from Cody Rhodes. We also witnessed the brutal return of Rusev, the shocking betrayal of Seth Rollins by Bron Breakker and “The Vision,” and Roxanne Perez becoming the newest member of The Judgment Day!
  • On SMACKDOWN: The “Final Boss” era began with The Rock crowning his daughter, Ava, as General Manager. While the MFTs expanded their ranks, Cody Rhodes fought through the numbers game to qualify for the #1 Contendership. We also saw a massive heel turn from Jade Cargill and the dominant debut of Oba Femi, who sent a clear message to the locker room: The Ruler has arrived!

The grace period is over. In this edition of the blog, we are breaking down the biggest shake-up of the year: The 2026 WWE Draft. With The Rock and Ava controlling SmackDown and Triple H leading Raw alongside his newly appointed General Manager, every pick is a tactical strike. Who moves? Who stays? And how will these new rosters shape the collision course for our first Premium Live Event, Backlash?

Going into the draft, I should mention what and who are in the draft pools for each night…

So lets get right into things, with the second week in May shows, as Raw and SmackDown present the WWE Draft! And we continue our journey on the road to BACKLASH!

Raw DRAFT show

The show opens with Triple H in the ring. He looks revitalized compared to last week. He acknowledges the TKO Board’s pressure but says he has found the one man whose dignity and steel cannot be bought by the “Final Boss.”

Triple H: “To lead Raw into this new era… I give you, William Regal!”

William Regal’s Address:

(Regal walks out to a massive ovation, straightening his suit. He stands in the ring, looking like the refined but dangerous veteran he is.)

“Thank you, Hunter. And thank you to all of you. Now, let’s get one thing perfectly clear. I am not here to play corporate games. I am not here to be a ‘yes man’ for boardrooms in Las Vegas. I have spent my life in this ring, and I know the difference between a Superstar and a politician. To the ‘High Table’ on SmackDown… you can bring your ‘Final Boss’ antics, you can bring your corporate mandates, but on Monday Night Raw, we are going to settle things the old-fashioned way. We are going to find out who is the best in that ring. This brand will be the bastion of professional wrestling. Sunshine, the Draft starts now… and I’m about to take your best pieces.”

Liv Morgan & Roxanne Perez (w/ Raquel Rodriguez & Dominik Mysterio) defeated Bayley & Lyra Valkyria

THE DRAFT: ROUND 1

The podium lights up as the first picks are announced. Note: The Rock was already designated to SmackDown as the WWE Champion.

Paul Heyman stands in a dim hallway with Bron Breakker, Logan Paul, and Austin Theory.

Paul Heyman: “Gentlemen… look around you. The world is changing. The Draft is a culling of the weak. But tonight? Tonight is THE night. Seth Rollins was a magnificent Architect, but he was building a house for himself. I am building an Empire for the ‘Alpha,’ Bron Breakker. Tonight, we don’t just survive the Draft; we dictate the terms of the new world order. Do not look at the podium. Do not look at Regal. Look at the carnage you leave in that ring. Tonight, you aren’t just Superstars… you are the Vision of the High Table. Now, go out there and take what is ours!”

Rusev defeated Otis (with Akira Tozawa & Maxxine Dupri)

After his win, Rusev grabs the mic: “Sheamus! You call yourself a warrior? You call yourself ‘The Celtic Warrior’? To me, you are just a man who has grown soft in his old age. I am here to break you!” Sheamus doesn’t wait. He sprints to the ring, and the two engage in a wild brawl. It takes ten security guards and several officials to pull the two powerhouses apart.

THE DRAFT: ROUND 2

Gunther is interviewed backstage, and says the following:

“I do not care about the ‘Draft’ or the corporate squabbles. My mission remains the same: Sacredness in this ring. CM Punk holds a title that represents the world, but he does not represent the mat. I am coming for the World Heavyweight Championship, and I will restore dignity to this sport!”

Cameras cut to the garage area where Rusev and Sheamus have found each other again. It’s a sickening sound of flesh hitting concrete. Rusev catches Sheamus with a heavy equipment crate, leaving the Irishman gasping for air. Doctors rush in as Rusev walks away, smiling. – Rusev defeated Sheamus in a Backatage Brawl

3.1SmackDownFinn Balor
3.2RAWJacob Fatu
3.3SmackDownNXT Champion: Ricky Saints
3.4RAWThe Judgment Day

The Judgment Day—Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Roxanne Perez, JD McDonagh, and Dominik Mysterio—are gathered in their clubhouse. They are celebrating being drafted to Raw as a unit, but there’s a cloud over the room. Finn Balor is sitting in the corner, packing a bag.

Liv Morgan: “Can you believe it? Rhea is still out there somewhere, but the core is Red! We own this show. Right, Finn?”

Finn Balor: (Slowly stands up, looking at his phone) “I’m going to SmackDown.”

Dominik: “Wait, what? Finn, no! We’re a family! You’re the Prince!”

JD McDonagh: “Finn, we can talk to Regal, we can fix this—”

Finn Balor: (He looks at them, completely non-plussed. There is no sadness in his eyes, only a cold indifference.) “Fix it? Why? Raw is getting a bit… crowded, don’t you think?”

(He throws his bag over his shoulder and walks toward the door.)

Finn Balor: “See ya.”

The door slams shut. Liv, Dom, and JD stand there, stunned. The Prince has left the building.

This high-stakes conclusion to the Draft shows that while the “High Table” has the numbers, the “Resistance” has the heart—and the veteran experience.

Here is the final report for RAW: The 2026 WWE Draft (Night 1 – Part 2).

Backstage, William Regal is seen in deep conversation with the World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk and the World Tag Team Champions, Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom).

William Regal: “Gentlemen, I’ve just come from the medical office. Rusev has done a proper number on Sheamus. He’s out for the night. Now, I won’t have the ‘Vision’ walking over my main event because we’re a man down. Punk, you’ve been around long enough to know—who can we trust to step into a fight like this?”

CM Punk: “Regal, I’ve got a phone call to make…”

Before her high-stakes rematch, Becky Lynch stops for a quick interview. She looks intense, her “The Man” persona fully dialed in.

Becky Lynch: “Iyo Sky is a genius. She’s fast, she’s athletic, and she might be the best in the world. But ‘Best in the World’ doesn’t mean a thing when the rules go out the window. Tonight, there are no disqualifications. That means Iyo can fly all she wants, but eventually, she has to land on the concrete. I didn’t come to Raw to be a ‘good wrestler,’ I came to be the Champion. Iyo, tonight you find out that when you play with ‘The Man,’ you’re the one who gets burned.”

Becky Lynch (C) defeated Iyo Sky in a No DQ match to retain the Women’s Intercontinental Championship

The Closing Sequence:

  • CM Punk neutralized the threat of Bron Breakker, taking the “Alpha” out of the equation with a high-impact dive to the outside.
  • Fraxiom (Frazer & Axiom) used their incredible speed to take Bronson Reed and Logan Paul out of the ring with stereo suicide dives.
  • In the center of the ring, AJ Styles caught Austin Theory off guard. Styles dodged an A-Town Down and nailed the Phenomenal Forearm!

Raw ends with the four victors standing tall in the ring. CM Punk and AJ Styles—two icons of the industry—share a nod of respect, while Fraxiom hoist their Tag Titles high.

The atmosphere in the arena is tense as the Draft pools for the final night are displayed on the Titantron. Every superstar left on the board is a potential game-changer. Joe Hendry (C) defeated Solo Sikoa to retain the United States Championship

Solo used the MFTs to try and overwhelm Hendry. However, Cody Rhodes sprinted to ringside, neutralizing Talla Tonga and JC Mateo as well as Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. With the interference cleared, Hendry hit the Standing Ovation to retain his title!

Naomi is being interviewed about her future on SmackDown when Jade Cargill interrupts.

Jade Cargill: (Her voice is a low, dangerous rumble) “You’ve been awfully quiet lately, Naomi. Ever since I put Bianca in the dirt, you’ve been lurking in the shadows like a ghost. But I don’t believe in ghosts. I believe in things I can snap in half.”

Naomi: (She doesn’t flinch. She slowly looks up, her expression completely vacant of emotion. She speaks in a whisper that carries more weight than a scream.) “Ghosts don’t make noise, Jade. They wait. You’re out here making thunder, making a mess… trying so hard to prove you’re the storm. But thunder is just noise. It’s the lightning you never see coming that kills you.”

Jade Cargill: (She lets out a sharp, mocking laugh and grabs Naomi by the collar of her vest, hoisting her slightly) “Look at me when I’m talking to you! I am the only force of nature on this brand. I am the storm that took out the EST, and I will be the one who leaves you as a footnote in my reign. You want to ‘Proceed with Caution’? Then stay out of my line of sight.”

Naomi: (She leans in, her face inches from Jade’s, a small, chilling smirk forming on her lips) “You think you’re holding me? Jade… I’ve been in the dark so long, I’ve learned to love the cold. You can blow the roof off this building if you want. But when the lights go out… and they always do… you’re going to realize that you aren’t the one hunting me. I’m just letting you think you’re the boss until it’s time to collect.”

Naomi gently removes Jade’s hand from her vest. She doesn’t fight back; she simply walks past Jade, leaving the “Storm” fuming in the hallway.

The screen flickers to a static-filled feed. We see a flickering lantern in a dark woods. Voice of Uncle Howdy: “You think the Draft defines us? You think a ‘Brand’ can contain the truth? We are not ruled. We are not governed. We are not dictated to by anybody. SmackDown is our playground, and the High Table is just a collection of chairs waiting to be broken. We are still here.”

‘Lucha Bros’ defeated ‘Street Profits’

Penta and Fenix show why they are the standard-bearers of the division, defeating Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins in a thriller. Afterward, the Lucha Bros offer a sign of respect, but the Street Profits look devastated by the loss, walking off in silence.

Cody Rhodes is walking backstage when he is cut off by the debuting Ricky Saints.

Ricky Saints: “Cody… look at you. The hero. The Resistance. It’s a nice suit, but I think it would look better on someone with a bit more… soul. Welcome to my brand, Cody. Try not to get in the way of the ‘Saint’.” Cody Rhodes: “I’ve seen a lot of ‘Saints’ come and go, Ricky. Usually, they end up as Martyrs. Good luck.”

Alexa Bliss is in the ring, talking about her return and her win over the Tag Champs, when Charlotte Flair joins her. Alexa: “Charlotte, we made a statement. But Nia and Lash think they still run this division.” Charlotte: “They can ‘run’ it all they want, Alexa. But I am the Queen, and a Queen doesn’t take orders” They are interrupted by the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Nia Jax and Lash Legend, who stare them down from the ramp. The war for the tag titles is heating up!

In the dark hallway leading to the gorilla position, Randy Orton is adjusting his wrist tape when Drew McIntyre approaches him. The air is thick with years of mutual animosity, but tonight, a common threat looms.

Drew McIntyre: “Randy. Look at us. Two pillars. Two men who have carried this company on our backs while ‘Final Bosses’ were off making movies. And tonight, we’re supposed to go out there and let some kid like Trick Williams dance his way into our title picture?”

Randy Orton: (Slowly looking up, his eyes cold) “I don’t care about his dancing, Drew. And I don’t care about your ‘Scottish Warrior’ speech. But you’re right about one thing… the kid is fast. He’s got momentum. And if we spend the whole night trying to kill each other, he’s going to ‘Whoop’ both of us right out of a title shot.”

Drew McIntyre: “Then we have an understanding. We deal with the nuisance first. We remind the world that SmackDown belongs to the grown-ups. And then? Then I kick your head off your shoulders.”

Randy Orton: (Smirking) “I’d like to see you try. See you out there, Drew.

THE MAIN EVENT

The match was a masterclass in psychology. For the first ten minutes, Orton and McIntyre stayed true to their “understanding,” systematically dismantling Trick Williams. They tossed him into the barricades and the steel steps, looking to remove the “speed” factor from the equation. The alliance shattered the moment Orton went for a pin on Trick. McIntyre pulled Randy off, and the two legends finally unloaded on each other. The arena shook as they traded rights and lefts.., McIntyre set up for the Claymore on Orton, but Randy dodged, and Drew nearly took the referee out. Amidst the chaos, Trick Williams—who had been recovering on the outside—sprinted back into the ring with a house of fire. He caught McIntyre with a spinning heel kick and, as Orton coiled for an RKO, Trick countered with a lightning-fast Trick Shot! 1… 2… 3!

With Trick Williams’ hand raised, the #1 Contendership Triple Threat is officially set:

The winner will go on to face The Rock for the WWE Championship at Backlash! As the show goes off the air, Trick is celebrating in the crowd while Orton and McIntyre look on from the ring, realization dawning on them that the “New Era” isn’t just coming—it’s already here.

And now we are all up to date, lets get back to the shows!

Raw May Week 3

The show opens with Gunther standing in the center of the ring, looking disgusted. He is joined by the newly drafted Sami Zayn, and the atmosphere is electric.

Gunther: “Sami Zayn… the ‘Underdog.’ The man who fights with his heart. It is pathetic. You spend your career begging these people for their love. On my Raw, heart doesn’t win championships. Sacredness, discipline, and power win championships. You are a blot on the canvas of this sport.”

Sami Zayn: “You can talk about your ‘sacred mat’ all you want, Gunther. But I’ve spent my life being told I didn’t belong, and yet, here I am. You think discipline is the only thing that matters? I’ll show you that soul beats discipline every day of the week. You want to prove you’re the ‘Ring General’? Prove it tonight against me.”

William Regal then comes out and makes it official for the main event—Gunther vs. Sami Zayn.

Jey Uso vs Bronson Reed (with Paul Heyman) ends as Jey gained momentum, nut Austin Theory and Logan Paul swarmed the ring. Jey tried to fight them off, but the numbers were too much. Suddenly, Bron Breakker sprinted down and nearly turned Jey inside out with a monstrous Spear! AJ Styles then runs out to the ring, ducking a clothesline from Logan Paul and hitting a Phenomenal Forearm on Austin Theory! Styles stands his ground, screaming at Bron Breakker to get back in the ring. Paul Heyman had to physically hold the him back as the Vision retreated, Bron looking like he wanted to tear Styles apart.

Rhea Ripley stands backstage with her Women’s World Championship.

Rhea Ripley: “The Draft is over, and look what happened—the mountain got steeper. Whether it’s Iyo, Tiffany, or women like Stephanie Vaquer… it doesn’t matter. This title stays with Mami. Tonight, I find out who my next victim is. I don’t care who wins the Triple Threat; I’m just going to enjoy watching them break each other before I finish the job at Backlash.”

Dominik Mysterio defeated Apollo Crews to qualify for the Intercontinental Championship match – Apollo Crews looked to have the match won after a standing moonsault, but Roxanne Perez hopped on the apron, distracting the referee. This allowed Liv Morgan to shove Apollo off the top rope. Dominik capitalized with a Frog Splash to secure the win. The entire Judgment Day then join Dominik in the ring, showing that their numerical advantage makes them one of the most dangerous units on Raw!

Sheamus is found backstage, taped up and furious. “Rusev… you think a few crates and a sneak attack can stop the Celtic Warrior? You’ve made this personal!”

Fraxiom; defeated The Creed Brothers – As Frazer and Axiom celebrated in the ring, the lights dimmed and the Titantron flickered to life. Standing in a luxury suite, Logan Paul and Austin Theory—clad in their sleek “Vision” gear—looked down at the champions with visible disdain.

Logan Paul: “Look at them, Austin. Jumping around like they just won the lottery. Enjoy that feeling while it lasts, boys, because you’re looking at the two men who are going to bring those titles back to where they belong.”

Austin Theory: “You see, Fraxiom… you’re ‘fast,’ but we’re ‘Final Boss’ material. You’re placeholders. We are the Vision. And our Vision doesn’t include you holding our gold anymore.”

Logan Paul: “Next week. Monday Night Raw. The World Tag Team Championships on the line. Fraxiom… let’s see if you can handle the spotlight when the Maverick and the Unstoppable Force come for what’s theirs. See you in the ring.”

We see shots of Asuka (with Kairi) / Tiffany Stratton / Stephanie Vaquer backstage

Oba Femi vignette, hyping up his arrival to Raw!

Asuka (with Kairi Sane) defeated Tiffany Stratton & Stephanie Vaquer in Triple Threat match to become number one cotnender to the Women’s World Championship – As Asuka celebrated, Rhea Ripley walked out to the top of the ramp. She held the title high, staring a hole through Asuka. The match is set for Backlash!

Je’Von Evans is being interviewed about his debut when Shinsuke Nakamura wanders into the frame. Nakamura: “Young boy… you have speed. You have spirit. but you have no… style. On Raw, I will be the one to show you the true meaning of pain.” Evans: “I’ve watched you my whole life, Shinsuke. But I didn’t come here to be a fan. I came here to take your spot. See you in the ring.”

Becky Lynch is interview backstage before her match shortly…: “Retaining against Iyo was just the beginning. I am the Women’s Intercontinental Champion, and I am the standard. I see you all watching. You want this? Come and take it from The Man.”

Gunther defeated Sami Zayn – In an incredible wrestling match, Gunther eventually overwhelmed Sami Zayn, finishing him with a Powerbomb that rattled the ring. But Gunther didn’t stop. He began to lay into Sami with heavy chops, looking to put him on the shelf.CM Punk’s music hit! The World Heavyweight Champion sprinted to the ring, forcing Gunther to retreat.

CM Punk (on the mic): “Gunther! You talk about ‘sacredness’? You’re just a bully with a coat. You want to lead this show? You have to go through me. This title says I’m the best, and at Backlash, I’m going to prove that your ‘General’ status is revoked. I am the voice of the voiceless, and right now, I’m telling you to shut your mouth and get ready for the fight of your life!”

SmackDown May Week 3

The show opens with Trick Williams to a thunderous reaction. He talks about his journey from NXT to the main roster, declaring that the “Era of Trick” isn’t just a slogan—it’s a reality. He is quickly interrupted by Cody Rhodes.

Cody Rhodes: “Trick, I’ve watched you. I’ve seen the energy. But you’re standing in the ring with a man who has finished the story and faced the Final Boss. You talk about ‘Whooping’ people, but at Backlash, I’m the one who needs that title to keep the High Table from owning this industry. I respect you, but don’t get in my way.”

Trick Williams: “Cody, you’re a legend, man. You’re the ‘American Nightmare.’ But I ain’t here to be a fan. I’m here to be the Champion. You’ve had your story… tonight, I’m writing mine.”

The tension is broken by Finn Balor, who doesn’t wait for a mic. He blindsides both men, sparking a wild three-way brawl that officials have to scramble to break up before our main event.

Jade Cargill defeated Natalya

Jade looked absolutely dominant, but Natalya’s veteran experience nearly caught her in a Sharpshooter. For the finish, Naomi appeared at ringside. She didn’t attack, but her presence distracted Natalya just long enough for Jade to hit Jaded for the win. Post-Match, Naomi didn’t celebrate; she simply smirked at Jade and walked away, keeping the alliance mysterious and dangerous.

Drew McIntyre is seen storming toward Ava’s office. As he reaches the door, the new SmackDown superstar Ricky Saints walks out, looking smug. They share a brief, tense look before Drew enters.

Drew McIntyre: “Ava, I’m done. Randy Orton cost me last week. He’s obsessed with his own legacy while the High Table is laughing at us. I want him in a ring where there are no rules to protect him.” Ava: “You want a fight, Drew? You’ve got it. Next week: Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton — NO DQ. Now get out of my office.”

The LWO vs. The Lucha Bros A high-flying showcase that was cut short when The MFTs (Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, Talla Tonga, and JC Mateo) swarmed the ring. They wiped out both teams. Rey Mysterio sprinted down to help his allies, but even the legend was overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of The Rock’s “hitmen”. The MFTs stood over the fallen luchadores, holding up the Tag Team titles to signal that the High Table is coming for the gold.

A cinematic vignette plays, showcasing high-fashion shoots and championship gold. Blake Monroe is coming to SmackDown. “Style is temporary,” she whispers, “but Glamour is forever.”

Giulia defeated Piper Niven (with Chelsea Green & Alba Fyre) – Post match, The Secret Hervice attack Giulia, until Jordynne Grace makes the save!

Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair are interviewed ahead of their match with Nia Jax and Lash Legend. Charlotte: “We beat them once to prove a point. Tonight, we beat them AGAIN to earn our shot. At Backlash, the Queen and the Goddess take their thrones.”

Backstage, United States Champion Joe Hendry is seen holding his title when Damian Priest approaches. Priest: “Joe. People believe in you. But remember… I’ve been a champion. I know what it takes to stay one.” Their respectful talk is cut short as The MFTs walk past. A tense six-man standoff occurs, only for the Wyatt Sicks logo to flash on every screen in the building, sending a chill through the hallway.

Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair defeated Nia Jax & Lash legend – as a result, Bliss & Charlotte officially secure a Women’s Tag Team Title Match at Backlash!

Cody Rhodes is giving a backstage interview when Ricky Saints interrupts. Ricky: “Big night, Cody. Don’t let the kid or the Prince get the best of you. Good luck out there… you’re going to need it.” Saints walks away with a grin, clearly enjoying getting under the veteran’s skin.

Trick Williams defeated Cody Rhodes & Finn Balor in a triple threat match to become number one contender to the WWE Championship – for the finish, Balor went for the Coupe de Grace on Cody, but Cody rolled out of the way. As Cody set up for the Cross Rhodes, Trick Williams flew out of nowhere with a Trick Shot!

SmackDown ends with the massive graphic on the screen:

WWE CHAMPIONSHIP: THE ROCK (C) vs TRICK WILLIAMS

Raw May Week 4

The show begins with The Vision in the ring. Bron Breakker is pacing like a caged animal, still fuming after AJ Styles’ interference last week. He grabs the mic and demands AJ Styles come out and “face his end.” Instead, he’s answered by the “Yeet” of Jey Uso. Jey and Bron trade barbs, with Jey telling Bron he’s just a “pawn for Heyman.” This brings out General Manager William Regal to the top of the ramp.

William Regal: “Enough of this squabbling! Bron, you want a fight? Jey, you want to prove you’re the ‘Main Event’? Fine. But on my show, we don’t just talk. Tonight, we’re going to see if the Vision is as strong as Paul Heyman claims. In our main event, it will be the powerhouse duo of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed taking on Jey Uso and a man who has been a thorn in your side… AJ Styles! Now get out of my ring before I find a reason to fine the lot of you!”

Austin Theory & Logan Paul (with Paul Heyman) defeated ‘Fraxiom’

Becky Lynch is walking backstage with her Women’s Intercontinental Title when she’s approached by the high-flying Sol Ruca.

Sol Ruca: “Nice title, Becky. I’ve been watching you since I got drafted here. I just wanted to let you know… the view from the top is great, but the view from the air is better. I’m coming for that.”

Becky smirks, but before she can respond, Bayley and Lyra Valkyria walk into the frame.

Bayley: “Take a number, kid. Becky knows that I’m the one who really put this division on the map. That title would look much better on a Role Model.”

Lyra Valkyria: “You two can talk about the past all you want. I’m the future. Becky, I’ve got nothing but respect for you, but respect doesn’t win championships. I’m ready when you are.”

Becky Lynch: (Looking at all three) “Look at this… a line at my door. I love it. Sol, you’ve got hops. Bayley, you’ve got history. Lyra, you’ve got heart. But I’ve got the title. If you want a shot, you’d better be prepared to go through ‘The Man.’ Because I don’t just hold this title… I own it.”

Je’Von Evans vs Shinsuke Nakamura

This was set to be a classic “Speed vs. Style” matchup, but it never reached a conclusion. Just as Je’Von Evans was scaling the ropes for a high-flying maneuver, The Judgment Day swarmed the ring, laying out both competitors in a senseless beatdown.

General Manager William Regal appeared on the stage, looking thoroughly unimpressed by the Judgment Day’s tactics.

“You think you can just march into my ring and decide who qualifies for a title match? Dominik, you want to be a part of the Intercontinental conversation so badly? Fine. But you won’t be doing it alone. At Backlash, Sheamus will now defend his Intercontinental Championship in a Fatal 4-Way Match against Dominik Mysterio, Je’Von Evans, and Shinsuke Nakamura! Good luck, sunshine—you’re going to need it.”

Dominik Mysterio was seen throwing a tantrum in the ring, realizing he now has a much harder path to the gold than he anticipated.

We see Rhea Ripley backstage, looking as confident as ever as she prepares for her match.

Rhea Ripley: “Asuka… you think a little blue mist makes you a threat to Mami? You’ve been around a long time, but you’ve never faced me when I’m this focused. And as for Kairi Sane? Tonight, I’m going to show her exactly what happens when you try to step into my ring. Backlash is just a formality. The World is mine.”

Rhea Ripley defeated Kairi Sane (with Asuka) – After the match, Asuka entered the ring to tend to Kairi. She and Rhea shared a long, tense look. Rhea simply held her Women’s World Championship high, laughing in the face of the “Empress of Tomorrow” as she exited the ring.

We then have a contract signing between Gunther and World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, ahead of their title match at Backlash. The ring is set with a black carpet and a mahogany table. William Regal stands at the head, looking weary. Gunther enters first, perfectly composed in his trench coat. CM Punk follows, wearing his “Best in the World” hoodie and carrying the World Heavyweight Title over his shoulder.

William Regal: “Gentlemen, I’ve seen my share of wars, but this… this feels different. Gunther, you represent a discipline that this sport was built on. Punk, you represent a spirit that has changed this industry forever. Sign the paper, and let’s make it official for Backlash.”

Gunther: (Signs without looking at Punk) “Punk. You talk about ‘Voice.’ You talk about ‘Culture.’ You talk about everything except what happens between those four ropes. You are a showman. I am a wrestler. At Backlash, I don’t just take your title. I take your dignity. I will break the ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ until there is nothing left but the sound of my hand hitting your chest.”

CM Punk: (Grins, leaning back) “You know, I’ve heard this speech before. The ‘Pure Wrestler.’ The ‘Machine.’ But Gunther, the mat is only ‘sacred’ until someone bleeds on it. And I’ve bled for this business while you were still figuring out how to lace your boots. You want a wrestling match? Great. I’ll give you a wrestling match. But when that doesn’t work, I’m going to give you a fight. And that’s something your ‘discipline’ hasn’t prepared you for.”

Punk signs the contract and tosses the pen at Gunther’s chest. The two stand nose-to-nose as Regal steps between them, his hands shaking slightly. No punches are thrown—just pure, cold malice.

Backstage, Rusev is pacing. He looks like a man possessed. “Sheamus… you think you are a warrior? You are a dinosaur. You talk about ‘Banger After Banger,’ but tonight, I am the one who brings the violence. You cost me my momentum. Tonight, I take your Intercontinental Title, and then at Backlash, I take your career. The Bulgarian Brute doesn’t forget. And I don’t forgive.”

Sheamus then has a backstage interview. This interview captures the intensity of a champion who knows he is being hunted from all sides. Sheamus isn’t just defending a title; he’s defending his legacy against a man who tried to end his career only weeks prior.

“And as for Dominik, Je’Von, and Nakamura… watch closely. Because after I’m done with Rusev, you’ll realize that being in a Fatal 4-Way with a pissed-off Celtic Warrior isn’t an opportunity. It’s a death sentence. FELLA!”

Sheamus (C) defeated Rusev to retain the Intercontinental Championship – and will move on to the Fatal 4-Way at Backlash.

A terrifying cinematic vignette plays. We see Oba Femi lifting massive weights, his frame looking like it was carved from granite. “Raw has had its ‘Generals’ and its ‘Alphas.’ But now… you have a Ruler. I am not coming to compete. I am coming to dominate.”

Backstage, we see a horrific scene. LA Knight is slumped against a pile of equipment cases, unconscious. Jacob Fatu is standing over him, baring his teeth. Officials and security rush in, finally forcing Fatu to leave. Knight is being tended to by medics as the “Megastar” looks to be in serious trouble.

Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed (with Paul Heyman) defeated Jey Uso & AJ Styles – for the finish, AJ Styles and Bronson Reed took their fight to the outside, crashing over the barricade. In the ring, Jey Uso went for a Uso Splash, but Bron Breakker caught him mid-air with a thunderous Spear! The Vision stands tall. Paul Heyman enters the ring, raising the hands of Breakker and Reed. Raw goes off the air with the image of the dominant “Vision” looking down at a broken Jey Uso.

SmackDown May Week 4

The show opens with cameras following Trick Williams as he pulls into the arena. He’s looking focused, but he’s immediately stopped for a backstage interview.

Trick Williams: “Man, I’ve been thinking about this moment since I was a kid. But thinking about it and being here? That’s two different things. The Rock calls himself the ‘Final Boss.’ He thinks he owns the game. But tonight, I’m going to look him in the eye and show him that the game is changing. I’m not just a challenger; I’m the man who’s going to ‘Whoop’ the High Table right off their pedestals. Believe that.”

The MFTs defeated The Lucha Bros & The LWO

Backstage, a massive brawl erupts between Finn Balor and Cody Rhodes. It takes ten security guards to pull them apart after Finn sends Cody crashing through a catering table. Finn grabs a nearby camera, screaming into the lens. – Finn Balor defeated Cody Rhodes in a Backstage Brawl

Finn Balor’s Promo: “You think you’re the hero, Cody? You think you’re the one to lead the ‘Resistance’? You’re nothing but a ghost of the past! I am the Prince of this industry, and at Backlash, I’m not just going to beat you—I’m going to end the ‘Nightmare’ once and for all. You want the High Table? You have to go through ME! Challenge accepted, Cody. I’ll see you in St Louis, and I’ll bring the end of your story with me!”

Giulia & Jordynne Grace defeated The Secret Harvest – After the match, Blake Monroe sprinted to the ring! She blindsided both Grace and the Champion Giulia. Monroe stands tall, holding the Women’s United States Title high. The glamour of SmackDown has arrived with a vengeance!

Backstage, Trick Williams is walking to the gorilla position when he runs into Carmelo Hayes. The air turns ice-cold instantly.

Carmelo Hayes: “Look at you. Main eventing against The Rock. Funny how things work out, Trick. I was the ‘A-Champion’ while you were my hype man. Now you think you’re ready for the Final Boss? You’re in over your head, dog.”

Trick Williams: “Melo, you’re still talking about the past. I’m looking at the future. I didn’t need you to get here, and I don’t need your advice now. Stay in your lane, or you’re gonna be the next one I have to move out of mine.”

Nia Jax and Lash Legend come to the ring to gloat about their dominance. They are quickly interrupted by Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair. The back-and-forth is personal, with Charlotte calling the champs “placeholders”. It doesn’t stay verbal for long. A massive pull-apart brawl ensues, with security barely keeping the two teams from tearing each other limb from limb.

Naomi (with Jade Cargill) defeated Natalya – As Jade and Naomi began a post-match beatdown on Natalya, Bianca Belair made a thunderous return! The EST cleared the ring, forcing Jade and Naomi to retreat up the ramp.

The US Champion Joe Hendry is in Ava’s office. Ava: “Joe, next week, we’re going to find out who really deserves a shot at that gold. It’ll be a high-stakes match between Damian Priest, Solo Sikoa, Ilja Dragunov, Ethan Page, and Ricky Saints. Winner gets you.”

Randy Orton has a backstage interview…

This interview captures the cold, methodical intensity of the “Viper.” At this stage in his career, Randy Orton doesn’t need to scream to be terrifying—his reputation and the look in his eyes do the work for him.

Backstage Interview: The Apex Predator’s Warning

Setting: Randy Orton is leaning against a black equipment crate in a dimly lit hallway. He’s slowly rolling his shoulders, looking completely relaxed despite the “No DQ” chaos waiting for him. Byron Saxton approaches him, looking slightly nervous.

Byron Saxton: “Randy, tonight you face Drew McIntyre in a No Disqualification match. Drew has been vocal about his frustrations with the Draft and has blamed you personally for his recent setbacks. In a match where there are no rules to protect either of you, what is your mindset going into this battle?”

Randy Orton: (He doesn’t look at Byron at first. He stares at his own hands, then slowly turns his head toward the camera. His voice is a low, predatory hiss.)

“My mindset, Byron? My mindset is exactly where it’s been for twenty-four years. Drew talks about ‘frustrations.’ He talks about ‘legacies.’ He spends so much time looking at the podium and the Draft boards that he’s forgotten the most dangerous rule in this industry…”

(Orton steps closer, looming over the mic.)

“The rule is: Never give a man like me an excuse. Drew wanted ‘No DQ.’ He wanted a world where the referee can’t stop me. He thinks that favors the ‘Scottish Warrior’… he thinks that favors the man with the claymore. But all he’s done is open a door that he can’t close. Tonight, there are no ropes to save him. No count-outs to protect him. Just every dark thought I’ve ever had, and a ring full of weapons to turn those thoughts into reality.”

(A slow, cold smirk grows on his face.)

“Drew, you’re so worried about the ‘High Table’ and the ‘Resistance.’ Tonight, you should be worried about the three most dangerous letters in this business. I’m not going to just beat you, Drew. I’m going to make you regret asking for a fight where I don’t have to stop. I’ll see you out there… and I’ll be the last thing you see before the lights go out.”

Orton taps Saxton on the shoulder—a gesture that feels more like a threat than a friendly pat—and walks toward the curtain, the “Voices” already playing in the arena.

Randy Orton defeated Drew McIntyre in a No DQ match – This was a sickeningly violent encounter involving chairs, kendo sticks, and the steel steps. For the finish, Drew attempted a Claymore through a chair, but Orton dodged and connected with a thunderous RKO onto the chair!

Trick Williams comes out for his final message before the biggest match of his life. He is eventually interrupted by the entrance of the WWE Champion, The Rock.

The Rock: “Look at you. The ‘Whoop That Trick’ kid. You think because these people chant your name, you belong in the same ring as The Final Boss? You are a guest in my industry, boy. At Backlash, the party ends. I’m going to beat you so bad, your own mother won’t recognize you.”

Trick Williams: “You talk a lot about ‘your’ industry, Rock. But look around. These people? They aren’t yours. This ring? It doesn’t belong to the board of directors. It belongs to the man who wants it most. And right now… that’s me. At Backlash, you aren’t fighting a ‘kid.’ You’re fighting a problem you can’t solve. Lets talk about it!”

The show ends with a stare-down. The Rock holds the WWE Title inches from Trick’s face. The Final Boss vs. The Future. Who survives?

And just like that, we have made it to Backlash, with a card that is as follows:

And I guess now, all there is to say, is get ready… for the BACKLASH!

Josh.
